The WCT production runs on weekends from Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 26

Conceived and originally directed by John Michael Tebelak, with music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, "Godspell" is one of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time.

Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Schwartz, "Godspell" boasts a string of well-loved songs, including "Day by Day."

As the cast performs "Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best”, “Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side," the parables of Jesus Christ come to life.

“I love 'Godspell' because it was purposefully written with beautiful songs and messages, but is wide open to interpretation," said Maggie Pangrazio, director of the WCT production. "You can see 100 versions and still be seeing it for the first time. It also appeals to all ages with music that has something for everyone: beautiful harmonies, silly kid-friendly songs, and timeless classics.”

Pangrazio’s past directorial credits include "Dracula" at the Bridgeport Theatre Company, "The Happy Elf" with the Town Players of New Canaan, and "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," "Dial M for Murder," "Godspell," and "Fame" at The Bijou Theatre. She is operations manager at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre.

Kelly Benenati is assistant director for the musical at WTC. She previously served as stage manager for "The Happy Elf" with the Town Players of New Canaan and "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" at the Bijou Theatre. Briana O'Brien LaMare is stage manager, with experience including "Fame the Musical" at the Bijou Theatre, "Moonlight and Magnolias" with Eastbound Theatre, "The Crucible" and "A Little Night Music" with Warde Drama, and many credits at Fairfield Warde.

Caitlin Brown is a sophomore at St. Joseph High School and was cast for the first time in a Westport Community Theatre production. The Westport cast also includes: Juan Ayala, Emily Beers, Jessica Braun, Tyler Campbell, Betzabeth Castro, Dena Lagonigro, Katherine Logan, Rob Pawlikowski, Rosalind Cormier, Norris Wakefield, Bill Warncke, and Caitlin Roberts.

The show runs June 3 through June 26, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., with Thursday performances on June 9 and June 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $28, $26 for seniors and students, and can be purchased at westportcommunitytheatre.com or by calling 203-226-1983.
