WESTPORT, Conn. - Pure Barre and Skinny Girl are coming together to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle by holding a 'sweatworking' class in its Westport and Fairfield locations.
Participants can take a barre class and learn about how Skinny Girl products might be able to help in the quest to be healthy.
For Megan Flynn, a registered dietitian, Pure Barre student and spokeswoman for Skinny Girl, the event combines all things that promote healthy lifestyles.
"It's a great fit because eating healthfully and exercise goes hand in hand," Flynn said. She was at the Westport Pure Barre location in Playhouse Square off the Post Road as she invited attendees to sample the snack bars.
"The average person consumes 25 percent of their calories through snacking," Flynn said. Each of the three flavors of the Skinny Girl snack bars are under 170 calories and packed with protein and fiber, she said, making it a perfect snack for mid-morning or afternoon.
Laura Laboissonniere, owner of the Pure Barre locations in Westport and Fairfield, says the Skinny Girl bars are great.
"We have a jar of them that we give out for free," Laboissonniere said. "It's great fuel to get through the 55-minute classes" offered at Purre Barre.
She said some clients grab a bar and eat it before class to keep up their energy if they're taking a class during their lunch hour. Sometimes, she added, people take a bar before and after class.
Manager of both Fairfield and Westport Lauren Foster said that she eats at eats at least one bar every day.
"It gives me a little extra boost," Foster said.
The 'Sweatworking' class was held in Westport on Wednesday evening, with another held at the Fairfield location at 1275 Post Road.
The location is offering a free test class to anyone who wants to check out both Pure Barre and Skinny Girl during those class times.
Participants can also enter a raffle to win a month's supply of Skinny Girl products and other swag.
