A new study posted on CNBC.com calculated the average number of wage earners in a given state who make more than $343,000 per year. That bracket of people makes up 1 percent of the U.S. population.
The study calculated that there are 1,345 Connecticut residents with "ultra-high net worth" out of a total state population of roughly 3.5 million. That means one out of every 2,657 people in Connecticut has an "ultra-high net worth," good for the third-highest average in the nation.
According to the study, only New York and Wyoming have a higher "ultra-high net worth" average than Connecticut.
New York averages one "ultra-high net worth" individual per 2,255 residents, while Wyoming tops the nation with one "ultra-high net worth" individual per 1,911 residents.
