Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Trigger Flash Flood Watch In Westport

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – UPDATE: A line of heavy rain and potentially severe thunderstorms expected to roll through Fairfield County on Monday afternoon, has triggered a severe thunderstorm watch as well as a flash flood watch from the National Weather Service.

The thunderstorm watch will be in effect through 8 p.m. while the flash flood watch will be in effect until 4 a.m. Tuesday. 

The storms are expected to hit the area after 3 p.m. and into the evening. Some of the storms will pack heavy rain and damaging wind throughout the evening. Chance of rain is 80 percent with up to 2 inches of rain possible.

Sun will return mid-week with highs in the mid-80s through Thursday with only a few pockets of rain moving through the area.

Thunderstorms could return on Friday to close out the week.
