Weston Rower Helps Team Earn Medal At Head Of The Charles Regatta

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Varsity 8 from Connecticut Boat Club in Norwalk raced in the 51st Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston recently and took home a medal after finishing fifth out of 85 competitors.

The Varsity 4 also did well, pulling CBC from 40th position to 10th during that race. 

The Varsity 8 team included coxswain Sophie Perez of Greenwich, Paige Cleary of Darien, Lauren Squitieri of Wilton, Kaitlyn Kynast of Ridgefield, Julia Cornacchia of Darien, Lily Davis of Darien, Taylor Lust of Ridgefield, Kelly Caione of Fairfield and Andy Bernhardt of Ridgefield.

The Varsity 4 team included coxswain Cali Nathanson of Newtown, Irene McLaughlin of Darien, Kat Eddie of Darien, Katie Bower of Weston, and Isa Johnston of Darien.

The Connecticut Boat Club is a girls youth (middle school and high school) rowing club and women’s masters program based on the Norwalk River in Norwalk. Founded by U.S. National Team Junior/CBC head coach Liz Trond, the team includes girls from throughout southwestern Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y.
