In an email to parents, Title said that Fairfield police were called after unknown items were located in a rear parking lot of the school at around 8 a.m. Wednesday. After a preliminary investigation, it was determined that the items were home-made curling stones, as used in the winter Olympic sport of Curling.
"Although the items were presumed to be harmless, all proper procedures were followed to confirm the true nature and ensure the safe removal of the items," Title wrote.
Students and staff were relocated to the gymnasium while the items were examined. They were eventually confirmed to be curling stones and were disposed of by school maintenance staff.
Title said students and staff followed all security procedures, and normal operations commenced within the school following the incident.
