WESTON, Conn. -- Weston's school resource officer's pay will come from the town's budget and won't be shared with the school's budget, according to the Weston Forum.
The decision was made by finance board members Monday upon a review of the selectmen's budget, said the Weston Forum.
On Feb. 22 at a Board of Selectmen meeting, school board members were asked to share the resource officer expense with the town, requesting the school's share be $45,000; the town's share would be $36,618, reported the Weston Forum.
Instead, Weston's budget will pay the entire cost of $83,618 from its operating budget, said the Weston Forum.
Instead of recruiting an SRO, Weston police will assign a senior officer to the spot, according to the Weston Forum.
