A woman was charged after Westport police received a report of an attack in front of a gas station, officials say.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 14 around 4:30 p.m. A citizen approached a Westport officer and pointed out a female who was "attacking" a man within a vehicle outside of an Exxon parking lot in Westport.
Officers arrived to observe blood on the outside of the vehicle’s driver side door. The driver was identified as Charlene Smith of Westport.
Smith was then asked to get out of the vehicle, and police continued to observe blood smeared around the interior of the car door as well as on Smith’s pants.
The vehicle’s passenger was determined to be the victim and suffered from minor facial injuries.
Smith was arrested and taken to police headquarters. She was charged with disorderly conduct and released upon posting $500 bond. The subject was due to appear in court on Thursday, Nov. 15.
