WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport police located a suicidal person threatening to harm himself with a firearm and took him to the hospital Monday afternoon.
Police responded to the area of Christies Garage on Cross Highway at around 4:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a report of a despondent individual threatening to harm himself with a firearm, police said. Traffic on area streets was briefly re-routed until officers could make contact with the person.
The person was found unharmed and a firearm, which was registered and owned by him, was located and seized, according to police. The person was taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation.
Police said that the situation has been resolved and there is no threat to the public from this incident.
