Brian Melendez is due back in court June 13 on the possession of narcotics charge, police said. Westport police stopped the car he was driving June 1 on the Sherwood Island Connector because one of the headlights was out, police said.
Officers smelled marijuana then searched the car and found a baggie with the white powdery substance under the driver's seat, police said. It tested positive for cocaine, police said.
He was released after posting $500, pending the next court date, police said.
