WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport Police apprehended two men who got into a fight in the middle of the road on Post Road East on Tuesday morning after being involved in an incident in Derby, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the Volvo dealership at 550 Post Road East at 9 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a fight in the area. When they arrived, they found two men fighting in the middle of the road, and it appeared that they had been involved in a motor vehicle accident on Post Road, police said. The officers quickly handcuffed the two men and began to investigate the incident.
Police learned that there was a disturbance between the involved parties in Derby which proceeded the Westport incident, according to police. Westport detectives are working with the Derby Police Department to determine what occurred this morning, police said. The town had issued a warning to residents, advising them to secure their properties.
One or two other males fled the scene of the disturbance on Post Road and were not located, police said. As of Tuesday afternoon, police have two men in custody. One is being treated at Norwalk Hospital for injuries sustained during the altercation, while the other is being interviewed by detectives.
Police said that once the men have been successfully identified and processed, their identities will be released.
