Marlo Macklin, 42, was charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree assault, first-degree strangulation and five counts of risk of injury to a child and held on $1.5 million bond, according to the Post.
Police started to investigate after learning the mother, 41, and her children — a 13-year-old, twin 4-year-olds, a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old— were missing, according to the Connecticut Post.
Macklin's sister and boyfriend staying at the house denied anyone was there, and officers had to force their way into the house, according to the Connecticut Post.
The victims, who were held in inhumane conditions for more than two days with no food or water, were taken to Bridgeport Hospital, police told the Post.
