Man Who Breaks Off Handle Of Car Door In Front Of Children Faces Multiple Charges In Greenwich

A domestic incident led to a host of charges for a man who allegedly broke a car door handle in front of a child while fighting with a woman in a car in Fairfield County, police said.

Officers from the Greenwich Police Department responded to East Putnam Avenue in the Riverside neighborhood at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday night, where there was a report of a disturbance.

Police said that the investigation into the incident determined that Manhattan resident Dwayne Brown, 36, broke his victim’s car door handle while she was attempting to escape him in her vehicle. During that disturbance, there were children in the vehicle.

According to police, further investigation Brown was found to be in possession of a “green leafy substance that tested presumptive positive for marijuana.”

Brown was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, risk of injury to a child, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. Police said that Brown was unable to post $1,000 bail and is being held in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court this week.
