Hoa Ngo, 34, of Sacramento, Calif., was killed around 2:30 a.m. Monday on I-95 northbound just north of Exit 41 in Orange, said Sgt. Eric J Haglund with the Connecticut State Police.

An initial investigation into the incident revealed that prior to the accident, Ngo was traveling with three adult friend in their pick-up truck towing a boat trailer when he accidentally dropped the phone out of an open window, Haglund said.

The truck stopped on the right shoulder and Nego ran across three lanes of I-95 to retrieve the phone. After picking up the phone, Ngo began to walk back to the truck across the highway, and was struck when he was standing in the left lane, Haglund added.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was nothing suspicious found on scene and all of the parties involved are cooperating, Haglund said.

Ngo's family in California were contacted by Troop G personnel and advised of his death, he said.

The accident remains under investigation.
