The arrest came about during a traffic stop on Tuesday, Nov. 15, around 2:40 a.m., according to police.

As the driver, identified as Cavan Devine, was looking for the vehicle’s paperwork, an officer on the scene noticed a glass pipe – the kind routinely used to smoke illegal narcotics – in plain view, police said.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers found methamphetamine, as well as several new and used syringes, according to police.

As the vehicle was being searched, the suspect attempted to run from the scene, but was quickly apprehended, police said.

Devine has been charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with an officer, according to police.

His bond was set at $1,000, but he was unable to post it, police said.

The suspect is due back in Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 23, according to police.
