BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Police are still investigating, but officers believe a Bridgeport man shot his wife early Friday morning in a domestic incident before turning the gun on himself.

A double shooting occurred at 15 Chase St. early Friday morning, according to police.

Bridgeport Police spokesman Av Harris described that theory to Daily Voice, adding, "It's very early in the investigation."

He wouldn't confirm the names or ages of the victims, but said the shooting occurred at about 4:45 a.m. Friday at a home at 15 Chase St. He said the woman had a gunshot wound to her face, and the man had a gunshot wound to his head.

"She's going to be OK," Harris said, though it's a pretty serious wound. "He's still alive, but we don't know how much longer."

News 12 reported Friday afternoon that a 4-year-old girl had been taken into custody at the home. Harris said he couldn't comment on this aspect. "With a domestic incident of this magnitude, a child would generally be placed in protective custody," he said.
