Perry Deshazo, 27, also known as "Hov" and "Amafia Hov," of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of heroin and fentanyl, according to John H. Durham, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut.
According to court documents, on Dec. 2, 2016, police responded to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport at around 1:30 a.m. on a report of a suspicious death. Hospital staff told police that a 40-year-old woman had been dropped off at the hospital and was dead upon arrival.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined that the woman's cause of death was acute intoxication due to the combined effects of fentanyl, heroin and alcohol, Durham said.
An investigation that included witness interviews and analysis of cell phone records and social media sites, determined that Deshazo had provided the drugs that the woman took shortly before her death, according to Durham.
Deshazo has been detained since his arrest on July 17. When sentenced March 27, he faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
