Leonard Rummo, 63, Former Westport Police Lieutenant

WESTPORT, Conn. – Leonard Donato Rummo, a former Westport Police Department lieutenant, died Jan. 11 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was 63.

Born July 31, 1949, in Bridgeport, he was the son of Filomena Rummo, of Orange, Conn., and the late Leonard Rummo. He graduated from Kolbe Cathedral High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Rummo received an associate’s degree in law enforcement from Middlesex Community College. He began his 35-year police career as an officer in Baltimore City for five years. He then joined the Westport Police Department, where he worked for 25 years and retired with the rank of lieutenant.

Most recently of Stratford, Conn., he was married to Lucille Esposito Rummo, He was a member of the Round Town Cruisers and proud of the Lister Dragon motor car he built.

Rummo is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kami (Matthew) Bernier, of West Haven, Conn., and Gina Rummo, and her fiancé, Marcos Diaz, of Milford, Conn.; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Shelton. Abriola-Parkview Funeral Home in Trumbull handled arrangements.
