Robert Kelly, 43, turned himself over to police Monday after a warrant was issued last week following an intensive investigation conducted by state and local police in which numerous child porn photos were found on his computer and other electronic devices, said Lt. Jillian Cabana.

Kelly was nabbed after Westport police received information last August from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crime Unit of suspected child pornography being shared online. The complaint involved an unidentified person in Westport sharing a picture of child pornography on Facebook with an out-of-state resident, Cabana said.

Sgt. Sereniti Dobson of the Westport Police Youth Division initiated an investigation and was able to identify Kelly. On Jan. 16, with the assistance of the regional Technical Investigation Unit, officers executed a search warrant at Kelly’s residence. During the search, various electronic devices were seized and later examined. Kelly’s devices were found to contain at least 45 images of child pornography, police said.

Following his arrest, Kelly was charged with possession of child pornography, promoting obscene performance, and obscenity. He was released after posting $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court on Feb. 7.
