WESTPORT, Conn. -- Students who are grief-stricken after three deaths this school year at Staples High School may find some comfort at a special program scheduled for Thursday in Westport, according to the Westport News.

The program on grief and how adults can assist teens is planned for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Christ & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 75 Church Lane, the Westport News said.

The free program will be led by Lisa Athan, executive director and founder of Grief Speaks, said the Westport News.

The session was set up in response to a third death in the Staples High School community, according to the Westport News. English teacher Cody Thomas, 27, committed suicide over the weekend. He was also the adviser to the Inklings, the student newspaper.

The organizers intend the program for parents, teachers and practitioners, according to the Westport News.

The Staples community is still mourning the death of student Christopher J. Lanni, 14, who committed suicide Dec. 23.

On Oct. 18, Chris Lemone, 49, the youth outreach counselor at Staples and the adviser for the Teen Awareness Group, died suddenly.

A wake is planned for Cody Thomas on Thursday, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, and a prayer service is set at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue in Stamford.
