EASTON, Conn. Easton taxpayers will get a glimpse into First Selectman Thomas Herrmanns proposed 2012-13 budget Tuesday as he unveils his plan to the Board of Finance.
Herrmann said he planned to address spending plans on both the town and school budgets, along with revenue projections.
He has been meeting with town department heads the past several weeks. Although Herrmann declined to elaborate on the actual numbers, he said, Some departments have come in very aggressively, but a majority have demonstrated fiscal responsibility that the difficult economic times call for.
The Board of Finance already has cautioned town departments to submit relatively low budgets, going so far as to issue a letter stating it will not approve any budget with an increase of 3 percent or higher.
When asked how the finance board would react to his plan, Herrmann said, I suspect that the majority of the focus will be on capital spending, as well as if the Board of Finance will be receptive to increasing manpower or hours in any of the departments.
The 2011-12 approved Easton budget was $41 million, which includes town spending, the Easton education budget and the towns portion of the Easton Redding Region 9 budget.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Easton Senior Center.
