Eversource will begin their aerial inspections Thursday of vegetation growing near its high-voltage electric lines in Connecticut.

Weather permitting, they will continue through next week, ending on March 31.

Flights will take place from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., in the following towns: Bethel, Bridgeport, Brookfield, Danbury, Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, Newtown, Norwalk, Redding, Ridgefield, Stamford, Weston, and Wilton.

The inspections involve the use of a helicopter flying low over Eversource’s transmission line corridors to check for any encroachment from trees or other vegetation.

The work is a "crucial and effective part of our commitment to reducing the frequency and duration of power outages,” said Steve Driscoll, vice president of operation services.

“Well over a million customers in Connecticut depend on us for their electric service."

Inspections will be done in other towns across the state in the next week as well.
