WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Transit District announced Friday that the Imperial Avenue shuttle service will be free to riders who use the Imperial Avenue parking lot and take the shuttle to the Saugatuck train station during the station's Lot 1 construction project, which begins Monday.
The free service during the construction, which will last until at least Labor Day, is being provided to offer commuters a good, cost-effective alternative to parking at the Saugatuck train station during the construction period and to highlight the benefits of the shuttle service to commuters who may not have used it in the past.
The shuttles to the Saugatuck railroad station leave the Imperial Lot between 6 and 8:15 a.m. Evening routes returning to the Imperial Lot leave the Saugatuck station between 6:15 and 9:15 p.m.
Additional permit parking areas will also be opened at the Greens Farms station.
The program is being jointly sponsored by the Westport Transit District and the Westport Railroad Parking Division.
