On the heels of Eversource’s massive, around-the-clock restoration effort after Friday’s powerful nor’easter, the utility company is preparing for another significant storm.

Eversource line and tree crews said they ready to respond to the major storm expected to hit the region Wednesday, bringing more snow, rain and high winds.

The company is conducting aerial inspections of electric lines across the state in the wake of last week’s storm, checking for any damage done during the storm or tree branches that were weakened and could now threaten the lines.

“The high winds that caused thousands of trees and limbs to come down during the last storm could have impacted electric lines, leaving them more susceptible to damage or outages,” said Eversource Vice President of Electric Operations Mike Hayhurst. “By actively checking those lines now, we can spot a problem area before the line is further damaged and prevent an outage in this next storm.”

Eversource crews have been working non-stop to restore power to customers affected by the last storm, and will be at locations around the state and in position to respond to customers if they’re needed.

Eversource recommends customers assemble or restock a storm kit with essential items before the next storm hits. These include water, non-perishable food and pet food, as well as adequate medical supplies and prescriptions for each family member and any pets. The company also suggests customers keep all wireless communication devices fully-charged in case of a power outage.

Customers should always stay clear of downed wires and to report them immediately to 9-1-1. They can report an outage online at www.eversource.com , or by calling 800-286-2000

Those who signed up for the Eversource’s two-way texting feature can send a text to report an outage and receive outage updates as they happen.
