A GoFundMe was launched on Friday to benefit Aaron Tucker and his family. By late Saturday, $30,110 of the $35,000 goal had already been pledged by supporters.

A car had flipped Wednesday morning on Post Road East in Westport near the bus that Tucker, 32, was taking to the job interview. The driver said he wouldn't wait for him, but Tucker jumped off the bus anyway and helped to rescue the injured driver with the help of two employees of Vautrin Auto Services.

Tucker lives in a halfway house in Bridgeport after he was released last month from prison after serving time on a gun conviction.

Karin Dale, who started the GoFundMe, said she was blown away by the generosity.

"Thank you seems so inadequate for the outpouring of love Aaron has received. Please know that every single one of your donations is turning not only Aaron's life around, but that of his son," she wrote in an update. "We have several local CPAs and financial planners who have volunteered to help Aaron put this money to it's best use and we are looking into EMT classes for him."

"This is going to be a life changing events for Aaron and his family," she said. "While the money goes directly to Aaron, his case worker and I are going to work with him on how it could most effectively be used to help his family. Additionally, we've had many offers of business clothes, job interview and resume prep for the residents of the halfway house."

People who donated also offered messages of support.

"You've demonstrated that one act of love for your fellow man echoes across the world, inspiring even more love in its wake," one person wrote on the GoFundMe page after donating $20.

Another person wrote, "Aaron, you are exactly the kind of person I would hire for showing initiative, leadership and quick thinking. I hope you're able to get a position that pays more than the minimum wage and perhaps have an opportunity for YOU to attend college. Bravo!"

And one person said, "It means you've always been a hero. Keep it up and be straight and more blessings will come to you."
