WESTPORT, Conn. Robert Goldman, a summer resident of Westport, died April 22 after a long illness. He was 87.
Goldman owned a summer home in Westport for 40 years and was a journalist, publisher, author, advertising executive and documentary filmmaker. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he previously worked as an editor for The Michigan Daily and as a writer for The Detroit Free Press, Reader's Digest and The Saturday Evening Post.
A founder of Surgical Care Publications, Goldman directed more than 300 films and videos for the pharmaceutical industry.
He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis. He is survived by his sons, Josh (Karen) Goldman, of Westport, and Matt (Renee) Goldman, of New York; and two grandsons.
Services were Wednesday at The Riverside in New York. Shiva will be observed at Goldmans home from 4-9 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
