The Cottage, 256 Post Road East, Westport, (203) 557-3701

Why Go: The Cottage’s simple white-washed walls and floors belie the complexity of its brunch dishes like the burratta and beet small plate prettily adorned with nasturtium greens and fettuccine carbonara with duck confit and smoked butter. But don’t worry, brunch traditionalists, you can get eggs (from Millstone Farm in Wilton), hash browns, and – gasp! – even the ubiquitous English muffin. Sit at the chef’s table and you'll be treated to a bird’s eye view of the kitchen.

Worth Waking Up For: The massive banana pancake with peanut brittle and maple syrup. Buttered lobster eggs Benedict with Meyer lemon (a Chinese citrus fruit that is a cross between a lemon and a mandarin orange) hollandaise sauce.

When: Sundays, 11:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Prix Fixe? Yes and no. Two courses and a mimosa cost $25, but you can also order a la carte. And brunch for the kiddies will be modified accordingly.
