STAMFORD, Conn. — Chelsea Piers Athletic Club in Stamford has launched the latest innovation in exercise, a training program known as Reaxing.
“Reaxing takes functional training to a new level,” said Greta Wagner, executive director of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “We love partnering with fitness innovators, and Reaxing is a new and unique concept that applies to everyone — from fitness fans to high-level athletes. These are fun tools, and we can’t wait to see our members enjoy and reap the benefits of using them.”
Reaxing is both a methodology and a technology, said Chelsea Piers, the first club in the country to offer the cutting-edge training.
Reaxing equipment trains the body for the unexpected movements that happen every day — by teaching the body to use the stabilizing and small muscles that compliment the larger muscle groups and are frequently overlooked in exercise.
"These smaller muscle groups which aid in simple everyday movements tend to be the cause many weekend warrior injuries," Chelsea Piers said. "The methodology stems from the idea that life is unpredictable."
The “Sudden Dynamic Impulse” technology in Reaxing features a “smart” floor board, a floating pool board, a dynamically unpredictable weighted chain system and an instructor-controlled light system.
The Reaxing concept revolves around mind-body reactions in unpredictable situations. The instability of the Reax Board and Reax Raft, coupled with the dynamic weight and light systems, trigger the constant activation of the user’s brain and stabilizer muscles, making Reaxing training more challenging and effective than standard workouts.
Results include improvements in sport performance, metabolic activity, and muscular responsiveness and rehabilitation. A variety of training programs using the full range of Reaxing equipment will be offered by Chelsea Piers trainers.
As trainers at Chelsea Piers said, "people don't get hurt running on the treadmill or track — they get hurt when they chase their child through the playground on the gravel and slip slightly. You don't get hurt doing dead lifts in the gym, but throwing your suitcase in the car can sideline you for your entire vacation with a pinch in your back."
Reaxing equipment is geared to train your body for the unexpected movements of everyday.
