Spitz will discuss his book, "Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child." The event begins at 2 p.m. at the retirement community, located at 3030 Park Ave. on the Bridgeport-Fairfield town line.

Spitz’s book details Child’s personal and professional life, beginning with her childhood in Pasadena, California; long before “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” became a staple in American cookbooks. "Dearie" highlights Child’s personality through the use of family photos and the chef’s own writing and anecdotes.

“The Watermark at 3030 Park is thrilled to host Mr. Spitz for this discussion on his book,” said Executive Director Kristin Butler. “Julia Child has been an icon for many chefs in and outside of the United States, and we look forward to hearing the insight that Mr. Spitz can give us on this larger-than-life figure.”

Spitz, a Connecticut resident, has written multiple celebrity biographies including "The Beatles: The Biography," which reached the New York Times Bestseller list. His articles have been published in New York Times magazine, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and O Magazine.

This event is free of charge and open to the public, however reservations are required. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, with a book signing after the lecture. Julia Child-inspired appetizers will also be served as well.
