DANBURY, Conn. — The Danbury Fair Mall has lots of big changes coming in the spring — and the biggest is behind a giant black wall where the Apple Store was previously located.

“Apple is taking over the current space of New York & Company, which is moving to a different location in the mall,” said Melissa Eigen, the mall’s senior manager of marketing.

Until the construction is complete, Apple has moved into a temporary location in the upper level of the mall, near Lord & Taylor and behind the construction zone.

Although Apple would not comment directly on the store's remodel at the Danbury Fair Mall, the company's new stores have an updated look and feel, , according to press releases for other remodeled Apple locations around the United States.

In some of these stores, there is a new area called The Forum, which contains a large video wall and modular seating. The seats can be arranged in different ways in The Forum, according to customers’ preferences. Customers can arrange to meet at The Forum for many reasons, such as to speak to an Apple store team member for support or to meet up with friends.

Another feature common in some of the remodeled Apple stores is an area called The Avenue. The Avenue, which is built along the walls of the store, is constructed to resemble a shopping street. It may change its look with the season and can provide gaming for kids or iPhone photography.

Eigen said the changes at Apple and the other stores are a positive move for the mall.

"It's always important to stay on top of the trends, and a lot of these moves are reflective of the strong market that we have," she said. "Renovation or movement happens year after year. It shows the strength of the market and the strength of the retail brands of the market in that they are constantly evolving and upgrading their stores."

Aside from Apple, another store reopening at the Danbury Fair Mall is Express, which caters to young professionals. “They are a very trendy store for what’s new or hot, selling both men’s and women’s items," Eigen said. “They are redesigning their storefront and designing the store for best access for shopping and maneuvering through the store."

A third store being renovated is Soma, which sells women’s intimates in a wide selection of sizes. Soma is updating their storefront, according to Eigen.

A new store at the Danbury Fair Mall will open in early spring — Hanna Andersson, which sells comfortable high-quality clothes for children and babies, Eigen said.

The store will be in the lower level, taking over the space of Cache, which is no longer in the mall, according to Eigen.

“Danbury Fair is an eclectic mix of retailers ranging from Lululemon to Banana Republic to Primark to Hanna Andersson," Eigen said. "The shopping center is always evolving to attract new and exciting brands based on customer feedback."
