Bar Taco to Open in Connecticut

Sasa Maur-Batuz and Andy Pforzheimer, the epicurean masterminds behind Fairfield County’s beloved Barcelona group restaurants, are taking on a new group of breezy, beachy, Baja-inspired eateries called Bar Taco. Late last month, they opened their flagship location in Port Chester, NY. But the word on the street is they’re set to open a second location in Stamford.

The goal of Bar Taco seems to be more than good food alone. Apart from tacos and tamales, meant to be ordered à la carte, diners will be wooed by the casual, vacation-themed atmosphere. High ceilings, a sun bleached color scheme and an irresistible island vibe are all part of Bar Taco’s appeal. Winter-weary Fairfield County residents are sure to welcome this sunny new spot to grab a good meal.

Look for Bar Taco to open “soon,” at 222 Summer Street, in Stamford. Once it does, I’ll sample the goods and tell you all about it. But, if you’re too tempted to wait, the original Bar Taco is now open for business, at 1 Willet Avenue, in Port Chester, NY.

Have you tried Bar Taco’s New York location, or will you wait for the Stamford spot to open its doors? And which menu item is on your must-try list? Leave a comment here, or share your thoughts with me at mmorelli@mainstreetconnect.us.
