Whether the weather brings snow, rain or a mix will depend on where you live. And the snow, rain or icy mix could cause slippery conditions throughout the region from Sunday afternoon, into the evening and overnight into the early Monday commute.

The colder than normal temperatures will continue with a 30 percent chance of snow developing Sunday afternoon, the weather service said. As a warm front moves slowly across the area Sunday night, the chance of snow increases to 90 percent. But it could change overnight to a wintry mix across the interior parts of Connecticut and to plain rain along the coastline.

On Sunday night, there could be snow accumulations of up to an inch in southern Fairfield County, 1 to 3 inches north of the Merritt Parkway and, 2 to 4 inches in northern Fairfield County and above I-84, where the changeover to rain may not occur until around dawn Monday. The changeover to rain elsewhere is expected to occur between 1 and 3 a.m.

The wintry mix will linger across interior areas early Monday with just rain along the coast. Eventually, it will turn to rain across all of Fairfield County before tapering off Monday evening.

Rain is expected until the early afternoon Monday with a high temperature in the mid-40s.
