Rain To Taper Off Thursday Afternoon In Westport

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Rain will hit most of Fairfield County throughout Thursday morning, but it will clear up later in the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers will gradually taper off from west to east by early afternoon, and the rest of the day is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 53. Those mild temperatures will be short-lived as a cold front approaches, allowing for cooler air and gusty winds to spread across the area.

Cool temperatures will continue into Thursday night, which will be partly cloudy with a low around 32. The wind chill values will be between 25 and 30, and there will be a west wind around 14 mph.

Winds will initially remain strong into Friday, though they will gradually decrease. The skies will be sunny, and the high will be near 46, though wind chill values will be between 20 and 30 early in the day. A northwest wind of 10 to 15 mph is expected. Friday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 28.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers on Saturday after 11 a.m. Otherwise the day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Saturday night will see showers, mainly after 9 p.m. The low will be around 43. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, with between a quarter and half inch of rain possible.

Sunday will be partly sunny, with a high near 50. Sunday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 28.
