The majority of the county will experience moderate air quality, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. But some sections bordering with New Haven County could see air quality designated as unhealthy for sensitive groups, meaning that there is an increased likelihood that certain populations will experience respiratory symptoms and breathing discomfort.

High pressure off the east coast Wednesday into Thursday will produce sunny skies and a steady southwest wind, according to DEEP. These conditions could also transport air pollution from the I-95 corridor into the state over the next couple days. The clear weather will enable both transported and homegrown pollutants to mix in the atmosphere and form ground-level ozone, which could also contribute to poor air quality, DEEP warned.

Highs Wednesday will be near 85, according to the National Weather Service. Humidity is also expected to increase Wednesday into Thursday. Wednesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 64.

Thursday will be sunny and even warmer, with a high near 89 and possibly reaching into the lower 90s. These temperatures are 10 to 20 degrees above the normal for this time of year, according to the NWS.

There could be some relief on Friday, which will see a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Otherwise the day will be mostly sunny, with a high near 84.
