WESTPORT, Conn. — Motorists should avoid the area of Main Street in Westport on Monday evening due to a large tree that is currently suspended on wires in the area of Main Street south of Compo Road North, the Westport police said.
It is causing traffic delays and necessitating the temporary closure of Main Street from Cross Highway to Compo Road North.
Northbound traffic on Main Street is being diverted up Cross Highway and southbound traffic is being diverted to Compo Road North and/or Clinton Avenue.
Eversource has been notified and will be responding for repairs. Only one power outage was reported in Westport, with 25 reported in Weston.
Police did not know how long the repair would take, however, it was expected to be completed by Monday night.
