Updated: NORWALK, Conn. — A busy intersection in South Norwalk was closed for hours on Wednesday due to a three-car crash under the railroad trestle that resulted in serious injuries, police said.

The area was closed to all traffic due to the crash, which occurred at about 11 a.m., until the roadway reopened at about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The road was closed for an extended period due to the investigation of the crash, which involved serious injuries.

The accident involved BMW and Audi sedans and a Lexus SUV, and three injured people were taken to Norwalk Hospital — one with serious and possibly life-threatening injuries, The Hour said.
