The Norwalk Parking Authority announced on Monday that it has entered into a temporary arrangement with the state regarding the eastbound side of the East Norwalk Train Station, allowing for 117 additional daily parking spaces.

The spaces are located alongside the track and the building. Officials said that the spaces are temporary, and are for daily parkers, not permit parkers. Monthly parking may be made available at a later date.

Officials from the Norwalk Parking Authority announced that the cost of the spot will be $8 per day, available as of Sunday, April 1. Those interested in using the spots will need to use the pay-by-phone Parkmobile application for payment. The zone number to use in the app is 2034.

The spaces will be available until crews need them as a staging area for the East Avenue Bridge Improvement Project, though an official date has not been set for when the project will begin. Early estimates have work beginning in 2020 or 2021, according to the Norwalk Parking Authority.
