Expect Weekend Delays In Westport: Maker Faire, Road Race Will Draw Crowds

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Events in Westport could create traffic delays on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Westport Maker Faire will take place on Saturday both on Jesup Green (Jesup Rd/Taylor Pl) and in the new Bedford Square from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Organizers are expecting approximately 10,000 visitors. 

People attending the event will be crossing Post Rd East to visit different activities and exhibits. Church Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic between Elm Street and Post Rd E. 

There will be an increase in Police presence, however, motorists are advised that there will be a significant increase in pedestrian traffic and asked to travel through the area safely. 

On Sunday, the Westport Young Women’s League will be hosting their annual Minuteman Race from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The road race begins at Compo Beach and uses many of the roads in the Compo Beach area. Organizers are expecting approximately 1,300 participants. 

Roads in the area will be open to vehicular traffic, but motorists are advised to travel through the area safely as there will be a significant increase of pedestrians in the roads during this event.
