ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- Josephine Ann Calderone, of Elmwood Park, died Nov. 29. She was 87.
Born in Passaic and raised in Clifton, she resided in Fair Lawn for more than 50 years before recently moving to Elmwood Park. She was a parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn. An avid solitaire player, she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Lois Born, 83, Of Norwood
NORWOOD, N.J. -- Lois Born, of Norwood, died Monday, Nov. 28. She was 83.
Born and raised in Connecticut and Vermont, she was a resident of Norwood for several years. She honorably served her country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-55. She later worked for Alford Packaging in Ridgefield Park for many years.
She was survived by her daughter, Eileen Nungessor and her husband Robert; a sister, Shirley Clarke; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Penney H. Barish, of Suffern, died Nov. 27. She was 69.
She was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Manhasset, to Evangelo and Stephanie Apostilakas.
She was retired from Washington Mutual in Norwood,. She was known as "Little Penny" and was an avid New York Jets fan for better or for worse. She always tried to look out for everyone.
She is survived by her son, Jim Barish; and sister, Kyle McAvoy and her husband Joe.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred.

Anna R. McCarroll, 96, Of Beacon
BEACON, N.Y. -- Anna R. McCarroll, of Beacon, died Tuesday, Nov. 8. She was 96.
Born April 9, 1920, in Beacon, the daughter of Andrew and Pauline Renovitch. She was a retired X-ray technician for Highland Hospital in Beacon.
She was the widow of the late Paul K. McCarroll, who predeceased her December 29, 2002. She also was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew and Alex Renovitch; and a sister, Lucy Rosmilso.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Elizabeth 'Betty' A. Straut, 90, Of Nanuet
NANUET, N.Y. — Elizabeth "Betty" A. Straut, of Nanuet, died Tuesday, Nov. 29. She was 90. She was born March 25, 1926, in Booneville, to John and Violet (Brooks) Mills.
She married Walter Straut in 1947 in Pearl River. He predeceased her Jan. 24, 1991. She worked for Bouton's Stationary in Pearl River and for Macy's in Nanuet. She was a member of the Nanuet Ladies Auxiliary and liked to garden, crochet and was an avid reader.

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Joseph M. Cestone, of Suffern, died Nov. 29. He was 79.
He was born Aug. 12, 1937, in the Bronx, to Michael and Elvira Cestone.
Cestone was a banker for Valley National Bank. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Joyce Kilmer Council #1177 Knights of Columbus and the Mahwah Elks #1941 in Mahwah.
He is survived by his three daughters, Michelle Fredericks, Barbara (Bob) Condon, and Christina Mints (Kevin); six grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Hayley, Robert, Joseph and Kevin; and sister, Patricia Moynihan( Dennis).

Zofia Pyz, 86, Of Wallington
WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Zofia Pyz, of Wallington, died Nov. 29. She was 86.
She was born Feb. 11, 1930, in Poland. She was raised in Poland, where she married Michael Pyz Jan. 3, 1951. The family came to the United States Nov. 11, 1964, living first in the south Bronx. In 1970, the family moved to Conshohocken, Pa., where they remained until moving to Wallington in 2007. While living in Pennsylvania, she enjoyed gardening with her husband. She also enjoyed many years of volunteering at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pa.
