The Fairfield County Football League wraps up its season this weekend with three games to determine division championships. Teams from Darien will participate in all three title contests.
In the eighth-grade division, top-seeded Darien White meets No. 2 seed Wilton Blue Saturday at 1 p.m. at Darien High School. Darien White went 7-1 during the regular season and has defeated Fairfield Red and Westport North to reach the championship. Wilton Blue went 5-1-1 during the regular season, with its only loss a 7-6 setback to Darien Blue on the final week of regular play. Wilton defeated Fairfield Blue and New Canaan Red to reach the championship.
Also Saturday at Darien, Westport South and Darien Blue meet at 2:30 p.m. for the fifth-grade championship. Darien Blue is seeded second, while Westport South is seeded fourth.
Wilton Black plays Darien Blue in the fourth-grade championship. Kickoff is 5 p.m. at Wilton. Wilton is seeded fourth, while Darien is seeded sixth. Wilton upset top-seeded New Canaan Red, 14-13, in last week's semifinals. Darien Blue, which started the season 2-2, has won six of its last seven games, including a 14-7 win over Wilton Blue in last week's semifinals.
Championship games will not be played in the sixth- and seventh-grade divisions. New Canaan teams advanced in each bracket and were declared co-champions. The sixth-grade co-champs are New Canaan Red and New Canaan Black. In the seventh-grade, New Canaan teams similarly named were named co-champs.
