Wynne Wins 3 Races as Staples Takes Division Title

WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples junior Henry Wynne won three events to lead the Wreckers to the boys indoor track championship Saturday at the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference's Western Division championships at Wilton High School.

Wynne won the 1,000, 1,600 and 3,200 for Staples, which finished with 185.5 points. Danbury was second with 132. Danbury’s girls won the indoor track team title with 137, while Staples girls took second with 96.

Staples also took first in the boys 4 x 4 relay, and Ethan Bradeen won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 0 inches. Dean Hefnawy won the pole vault.

Staples girls won the 4 x 800 relay with Courtney Mullen, Alexandra O’Kane, Caroline Smith and Alex Popkin. Lexie Schachne won the pole vault with a leap of 11 feet, 6 inches.

Staples now prepares for the conference championships Feb. 4 at Hillhouse High School in New Haven.
