WESTPORT, Conn. With the addition of a roof, the new golf halfway house at Westports Longshore Club Park is taking shape, giving golfers and park visitors a glimpse of what the building will look like upon completion.
Mark Holod, chairman of the 9th & ½ Hole Committee, a volunteer group that raised more than $200,000 for a new halfway house, said the facility is expected to open in early July.
The 750-square-foot, farmhouse-style building will serve as a concession area and rest stop for golfers. It will include a kitchen with a grilling area, an enclosed porch and fully accessible restrooms. It will replace the food trailer thats been in place since 2003, after the original halfway house was destroyed by fire.
The new facility will be dedicated to resident Cliff Ross, who died two years ago. Ross was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Golf Advisory Committee.
