Westport's Richard Harris and Bob Davis were honored by the Fairfield County Sports Commission at its annual SportsNight dinner last month at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich. Harris was honored for his service to the Special Olympics and Davis was selected Westport's Sports Person of the Year.
Harris' award, sponsored by Patriot National Bank, honors his long-time service as coordinator of the Westport program, with which he has been involved since 1997. In addition to recruiting and supervising coaches and volunteers, he has built a foundering program into one that consistently provides local, regional and statewide competition for a growing roster of athletes.
Davis has been an umpire in Westport Little League and Babe Ruth programs for 42 years.
