Westport Teen 2nd at U.S. Track Meet

WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples High School senior Lexie Schachne finished second in the pole vault with a personal best effort at the U.S. World Youth Trials last week in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Schachne jumped 12 feet, 1½ inches. The meet was open to athletes born in 1994 and 1995 who met entry standards. Athletes who finished first or second were eligible for selection for the U.S. World Youth Team to compete in Lille, France. U.S. officials elected to take only the first place finisher in the girls pole vault.

Schachne competed July 1 at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Myrtle Beach and cleared the same height, again finishing second.
