A total of 44 students from the North London Merchant Taylors School, along with six coaches, spent two weeks touring Toronto, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut with Westport as their final stop before flying home.

They were hosted by 20 local families the night before playing a game against a mixed team consisting of Weston, Wilton, Redding, Easton, Fairfield and Ridgefield rugby players out together just for this event. The local payers were from teams at Aspetuck Valley, Ridgefield High School, Staples High School, Fairfield Club and Fairfield Prep and were coached by Aspetuck Valley Rugby coaches Mark Van Eyk and Matt Squance.

After the games, the teams went to a local Easton park for a barbecue and get-together.

The Aspetuck Valley Rugby Club members are not talking about organizing a preseason rugby tour to either Ireland or Bermuda next year.

Founded in 2012 by Drew Sennett (then a seventh-grader) and his family, the Aspetuck Valley Rugby Football Club is located in Redding operates with the support of the Boys & Girls Club of Redding/Easton.  It draws players and coaches from Redding, Easton, Weston, Wilton, Ridgefield and Bethel.
