The Westport Little League World Series went to a decisive third game to determine the Majors Division winner. The Red Sox defeated the Cubs in extra innings, 9-7, to come out on top.
Adam Lehrman ripped a two-run double in the top of the eighth in game three to break the tie. Jack Dulsky shut down the Cubs in the bottom of the inning to pick up the save. The Cubs had come all the way back from a 7-1 deficit to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth to force extra innings.
The series-ending nail-biter followed two consecutive blowouts. The Red Sox won game one 7-0 behind stellar pitching by Marco Latella. The Cubs struck back in game two with a 7-1 victory with the offense being provided by Evan Gilland and Trevor Penwell, setting up the deciding game.
