Westport PAL Names Girls Lacrosse Director

WESTPORT, Conn. — Amy Alvord has joined the Westport Police Athletic League as director of girls lacrosse.

Alvord started her lacrosse career in Simsbury and played midfield at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y. She helped lead the Herons to the NCAA finals all four years there.

A three-time All-American, Alvord moved to Germany in 2003 to assist in starting a women’s lacrosse program and soon led the team to back-to-back national championships.  When she returned to the United States, Alvord coached the Fairfield Ludlowe High School team to its first state title.

In addition to coaching youth and high school clinics during the off-season at Sono Field House, this will be her third season coaching with Westport PAL.

In addition to Amy’s duties as Director of Girls Lacrosse, she will be coaching the fifth- and sixth-grade Blue team this spring.

Westport PAL is still registering players through Friday, March 2. Visit the league website for information.
