The Fairfield County Basketball League sixth grade girls "B" division championship came down to a duel between Fairfield PAL and Westport PAL's two tall centers. Fairfield's Ilíana Krasnigichi and Westport's Grace McGinley anchored their team's defenses and set up low-post attacks.
After an even first quarter, Krasnigichi proved to be too much for Westport. She scored a game-high 25 points and racked up nine blocks to beat Westport in the FCBL for the "B" division title, 39-28.
Westport struggled to find the basket after the first quarter and got into early foul trouble. Starting guard Charlotte Rossi had to sit much of the game after reaching four fouls in the second quarter.
Rachel Seideman led Westport with six points while McGinley racked up five and led the team in rebounds. Claire Meehan, Megan Brown and Julia Brower each tallied four points.
Westport PAL sixth grade girls finish their season at 15-5.
