WESTPORT, Conn. Westports Julia Marino has been named to the United States Snowboard Associations national team for 2012-2013.
Athletes were selected based on their results from the national championships at Cooper Mountin in Colorado in April. Marino won a gold medal, a bronze medal and finished seventh in the completion.
They represent the best amateur riders in the country and will act as the ambassadors for the United States of America Snowboard Association for the upcoming season, according to a release on the USASA website. USASA will support athletes with media and competitive opportunities to help get them to the next level. This is the 6th year that the USASA has assembled a team.
Marino also attended "Project Gold," a camp administered by U.S. Snowboarding, at Mammoth Mountain in California in May. She will train at Mt. Hood, Oregon during the summer. Marino is a freshman at St. Joseph High School in Trumbull, where she played for the Cadets' soccer team last fall.
