Westport 8th-Grade Girls Basketball Team Stays Undefeated

WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport Police Athletic League eighth-grade girls basketball team continued its fast start by winning two games to improve to 6-0 on the season in the Fairfield County Basketball League.

Westport defeated Redding-Easton, 41-18, and Weston, 34-18.

In the win over Redding-Easton, Westport overcame a slow start to pull away from its shorthanded opponent.

Against Weston, Claire Meehan returned from an injury and added speed, toughness and depth to an already formidable squad. Julia Brower, Grace McGinley, Morgan McWhirter, Charlotte Rossi, Rachel Seideman, Olivia Troy, Virginia Gerig and Mary McGee made contributions in both games.

Westport plays Mohansic on Friday and tips off against undefeated St. Theresa of Trumbull on Sunday.
